About this course
Gyeongju, the thousand-year capital of Silla, is known for homely food alongside its monuments — the ssambap alley of Hwangnam-dong, Hwangnam bread and sticky barley bread, tteok-galbi by Bulguksa, and Gyori gimbap.
This 2-night, 3-day itinerary arrives at Gyeongju Station by KTX and covers Hwangnam-dong, Daereungwon, Cheomseongdae and Donggung & Wolji on day 1, Bulguksa, Seokguram and Hwangnidan-gil on day 2, and Gyeongju National Museum and the Tomb of General Kim Yu-sin on day 3, with a Gyeongju specialty at every meal. You stay two nights at one hotel near Hwangnidan-gil.
Day 1: bus to Hwangnam-dong for a ssambap lunch, walk Daereungwon, Cheonmachong, Cheomseongdae, Gyerim and Woljeonggyo Bridge, snack on barley bread, a light dinner of Gyori gimbap, then the night view at Donggung & Wolji and a walk to the hotel.
Day 2: Hwangnam bread for breakfast, bus to Bulguksa and Seokguram, tteok-galbi for lunch by Bulguksa, a café break, then back to Hwangnidan-gil for a stroll and a dinner of grilled Korean pork.
Day 3: soft tofu stew for breakfast, Gyeongju National Museum, the Tomb of Kim Yu-sin, a hanjeongsik lunch nearby, then Gyeongju Station.
